PURPOSE:To provide a fixing device which never generates a failure in fixing and a low temperature offset in consecutive fixing but can form the image of uniform glossiness, when a heater is disposed on only a fixing roller. CONSTITUTION:When a number of fixing times reaches a prescribed one, the carrying of a recording material is transiently stopped and the fixing roller 1 and a pressure roller 2 are driven while the temperature is controlled in a state where the recording material is not held, to gradually recover the surface temperature of the pressure roller 2. Moreover, in this recovery period, coating with the releasing agent of a prescribed quantity is attained by a coating roller 212, to replenish the releasing agent by one consumed until then and recover the coating state of the releasing agent. |
