PURPOSE: To provide a coating mask easy to prepare and having a specified dimensional accuracy. CONSTITUTION: The edge for demarcating the parting line of a coating region 15 is formed on a mask body of a specified size to cover a plastic product. The mask body is composed of a mask body base 22 formed from a metallic sheet of the size almost matching a work 14 and a peripheral part 24 of the coating region 15 integrally formed with the base 22 by curing a clayey thermoplastic resin (epoxy resin) and with the edge 25 for demarcating the parting line of the coating region 15 formed. Consequently, since the base 22 is not contracted in the process of producing the mask body, a coating mask of appropriate size is obtained. A large-scale production equipment is not needed in comparison with the conventional mask formed by electrocasting, and the mask body is easily prepared in a short time.
