PURPOSE: A cosmetic composition containing a gardenia extract is provided, which shows an excellent effect on cytotoxicity, allergy induction, coloring performance, color maintaining performance and scavenging effect and has an excellent skin color compensating effect. CONSTITUTION: This cosmetic composition containing 0.01 to 30.0 parts by weight of an extract from Gardenia jasminoides Ellis is characterized in that it compensates the skin color by natural coloring effect of the gardenia extract and has excellent stability.
