PURPOSE: An apparatus for processing a TCP/IP(Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) in hardware and an operating method thereof is provided to uniformly maintain a TCP processing time by dividing a transmitting and receiving portion of data and a control processing portion and performing a data transmission irrespective of a control information process. CONSTITUTION: A transmission processing unit(200) processes user data and transmits the processed data to a destination. A receipt processing unit(300) receives a TCP segment transmitted from a transmitting side and processes the received TCP segment to transmit the processed TCP segment to an application layer. A control unit(400) processes control information related with the transmitting/receiving data. The transmission processing unit(200) and the receipt processing unit(300) perform the transmission of information. The control unit(400) manages a protocol state and controls the operation of the transmission processing unit(200) and the receipt processing unit(300).
