PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for embodying a voice mail box in the Internet for informationizing a voice message is provided to input a search word and confirm the voice message by adding a word for significantly expressing the voice message and a corresponding identification code to the voice message and compressing and storing the voice mail in the voice mail box. CONSTITUTION: An Internet network(50) is connected with a voice message storer terminal unit(10) and a voice message identifier terminal unit(30). A voice mail box managing server(60) is connected with the Internet network(50). An identification code unit(70) adds an identification code corresponding to a search word to a compression voice file to be stored. A compression voice file database(80) stores the compression voice file. A search engine(90) searches an inputted search word and provides position information of a compression voice file corresponding to the search word. A search word storing unit(100) stores the search word. The voice message storer terminal unit(10) and the voice message identifier terminal unit(30) have sound cards(11,31) and a speaker and microphone(12,32) connected with the sound cards(11,31).
