PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positioning device and a positioning method capable of calculating a positioning result with high positioning accuracy by effectively using acquired GPS(global positioning system) satellites. SOLUTION: If GPS satellites are acquired more than necessary for positioning, a necessary number of satellites for positioning are taken from among all the acquired satellites and all of the combinations of them are found. Accuracy lowering rates relative to all the combinations of the satellites are calculated, and accuracy lowering rates reaching a previously specified level are extracted from among the above lowering rates. By using satellites having the extracted lowering rates, a positioning solution is calculated. Positioning computation is performed by combining the extracted lowering rates, the solution obtained by using the satellites having the extracted lowering rates, and angles of elevation of the respective satellites.
