PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical component mounting method and a jig for mounting which can manufacture simply and at a low price, and can adhere and fix the optical components, such as a quarter wave plate, without the deviation of an optical axis, etc., exactly in an optical base. SOLUTION: The jig 1 for mounting an optical component is composed in a clamping part 2 for holding with a hand, pincettes, etc., and a main body part 3 for pressing and holding the optical component actually. In the main body part 3, elastic members 4, such as hard protein or spongy which is nonmetallic material, for example, sponge, etc., are disposed. The elastic member 4 is formed in a cube shape with prescribed thickness, and a pair of facing surfaces which is the principal surface is set to a first surface 4a and a second surface 4b opposed to the optical component. A belt-like covering member 5 is disposed so that the first and second surfaces 4a and 4b of this elastic member 4 may be covered. The belt-like covering member 5 consists of the material made and engaged fibers nearly parallel, the high polymer material, or the material combined with these, for example, paper, etc., is used. One end 5a of the belt-like covering member 5 and other end 5b are superposed through adhesive or the like, and the clamping part 2 is formed.
