PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-fiber optical delay line which is easily connected to a related component, whose packaging is convenient and compact and also which is thermally stable. SOLUTION: Plural optical fibers fixed to a flat substrate are incorporated. The fibers are linear, and an input part 304 and an output part 306 which are equal in length and are arranged in adjacent to the substrate are included in the fibers. The input part and the output part of respective fibers are mutually connected by a U shaped connecting part 308, and respective connecting parts are arranged so as to have a peculiar and prescribed length. The inputs of the fibers are connected to an optical splitter 314 through a fiber mutual connection 322. In a preferable embodiment of this invention, a plane heater and over coating are used for the purpose of controlling a thermal profile over the plural fibers. |
