PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve luminance of the front face of a color semi-transmission type liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: The color liquid crystal display device 31 consists of a color display part 32 and a surface light source device 33. The color display part 32 is produced by disposing an upper polarizing plate 35 and a lower polarizing plate 36, facing each other on the upper and lower faces of a liquid crystal display panel 34, respectively, and the liquid crystal display panel 34 has a semitransmission reflection part 37, a part of which is formed as a reflection part 37a to reflect the incident light and an other part of which is formed as a transmission part 37b to transmit the incident light. The surface light source device 33 consists of a light guide plate 38, a light-emitting part 39 disposed to face the entrance face of the light guide plate 38, a total reflection plate 41 disposed to face the lower face of the light guide plate 38, and a diffusion plate 40 with a small diffusion degree disposed to face the entrance face of the light guide plate 38. |
