摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder discrimination device for internal combustion engine capable of performing a cylinder discrimination in the early stage at the start of an engine without newly providing a part such as special sensor or the like. SOLUTION: The crankshaft 14 of the engine 11 repeats normal rotation and reverse rotating in the stopping process of the engine 1, and perfectly stops in a position slightly closer to lag side from the position where the reverse rotation is first generated. The reverse rotation of the crankshaft 14 is detected on the basis of the width Sigt of an ignition signal or the width Sne of the pulse signal from a crank position sensor 14c, which is parameter changing according to the rotating speed of the shaft 14. The reverse rotating is detected in this manner, whereby the stop position of the crankshaft can be predicted on the basis of this reverse rotation. On the basis of the predicted stop position of the crankshaft 14, the cylinder discrimination can be performed in the state where the engine 11 is stopped.
