PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attach an insulator for preventing contact in a lower end of an output terminal so as to preclude the contact with a main metal for fixing an element by the output terminal, in a sensor joined with the output terminal in a periphery of the element for detecting a detection gas in exhaust gas. SOLUTION: The element 2 is arranged inside a hollow part 105 of the main metal 1 in this gas sensor. A gap between the element 2 and the metal 1 is filled with a holder 3, inorganic powder 4 and the cylindrical insulator 6 to support integrally the element 2 together with the metal 1. The output terminal for taking out electrically an output of the element is joined to an outer circumference of the element. An upper end face of the cylindrical insulator is caulked by a bent-in part of the metal via a metal packing. A protruded part is formed in an inner side of the metal packing of the cylindrical insulator, and its upper face is located in a position more upper than that of the bent-in part. The upper face of the protruded part prevents thereby a lower end face of the output terminal from moving more downwards so as to be prevented from contacting with the metal packing and the bent-in part. |
