PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize excellent running performance and durability of a magnetic recording medium by using a lubricant having a lubricating effect kept for a long period and enhancing the adhesion stability between a protective film and the lubricant. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium provided with a non-magnetic substrate 2, a magnetic layer 3 formed on the non-magnetic substrate 2, a protective film 4 formed on the magnetic layer 3 and having a surface top-coated with an aromatic amine and an outermost layer holding the lubricant containing a compound of bifunctional perfluoropolyether having carboxyl groups at the both terminals of its molecule and an amine is characterized in that the quantity of the aromatic amine is more than the quantity of the compound.
