PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To update a file in a UNIX system without interrupting service. SOLUTION: In the case of updating an old file 51 to a new file 52, an execution part 521 is started from an execution part 511 having connection with an external device 2, so that connection information is succeeded and file updating is uninterruptedly executed. Both the execution parts 511, 521 are simultaneously and temporarily turned to started states, the execution part 521 stores the various information of the old file 51 in a data part 522 of the new file 52 by executing file conversion matched with the constitutional elements of the new file 52 during the execution of service by the execution part 511, and immediately after stopping the execution part 511, the execution part 521 starts service. Since the various information of the old file 51 is stored in the data part 522 of the new file 52, a difference generated at the conversion of file constitution is stored in a difference file 74 as difference information and the stored information is developed in the new file 52, the consistency of the information can be held.
