PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid an erroneous diagnosis caused by an EGR when a means for reducing an amount of reducing agent in an exhaust gas is operated and an abnormality of a means for increasing the amount of the reducing agent or a catalyst is diagnosed based on a condition of an exhaust system. SOLUTION: A reflux of exhaust gas is restricted so as to avoid that a reducing agent of which an amount is increased by a means for increasing an amount of reducing agent is refluxed to a suction system at much amount during abnormality diagnosis. A burning of engine is controlled to make a generation amount of NOx less so as to avoid an increase of generation amount of NOx accompanying with this restriction.
