PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching device, with which the arc discharge of a contact is prevented. SOLUTION: This switching device is constituted so that the serial circuit of a load 2 and a contact 3 is connected to an AC power source 1 and by opening/closing the contact 3, an ignition current flows to the gate of a bidirectional thyristor 4.
