PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an end-surface reflection type surface wave device which can effectively suppress a ripple due to a bulk wave, can be manufactured readily, even when the height of a reflecting end surface is made small, and use a surface wave of an SH type. SOLUTION: The end surface reflection type surface wave device 1 is constituted by forming IDTs 3 and 4 on a piezoelectric substrate, forming grooves 5 and 6 on both sides of the area, where the IDTs 3 and 4 are provided so as to reflect the surface of the SH type, forming reflection end surfaces of the internal surface 5a and 6a of the grooves 5 and 6, and forming slanting surface parts 5b and 6b between the lower ends of the reflecting end surfaces 5a and 6a and the bottom parts of the grooves.
