PURPOSE: A method for controlling tension of a strip by load balance control technique of an equipment for treating the surface of a cold rolled steel sheet is provided to improve the surface quality of the strip by effectively setting a tension difference between rolls at tension bridle rolls(TBR), thus preventing overload and slip of a drive motor of the tension bridle rolls. CONSTITUTION: The method for controlling tension of a strip by load balance control technique of an equipment for treating the surface of a cold rolled steel sheet comprises the steps of obtaining allotted tension values for each of the rolls by the following mathematical equations from tensions(Tin,Tout) set at the inlet and outlet sides of tension bridle rolls(TBR); T1=Tin exp(&thgr;1/180·π·μ0), T2=T1 exp(&thgr;2/180·π·μ0), T3=T2 exp(&thgr;3/180·π·μ0), Tout=T3 exp(&thgr;4/180·π·μ0) where &thgr;i represents an angle between the rolls and the strip, T1, T2 and T3 are magnitudes of tension forces applied to a strip between each rolls of the tension bridle rolls, and μ0 is a calculated friction coefficient required when generating a tension difference of Tin and Tout by the tension bridle rolls between the strip and the rolls; and controlling current controllers(12,22,32,42) for each roll driving motors(14,24,34,44) by each roll load balance controllers(11,21,31,41) after receiving the obtained allotted tension values for each of the rolls as instructed current values for each of the rolls and receiving feedback current values for each of the roll driving motors(14,24,34,44), thereby controlling tensions applied to each of the rolls.
