SOLUTION: The transmitter has an error correction encoding part for applying error correction coding processing to a plurality of data string, a modulating part for performing modulation so as to provide power difference between a carrier modulated with a 1st data string and a carrier modulated with a data string other than the 1st data string, and an inverse Fourier transformation part for transforming the output of the modulating part into a time base by applying inverse Fourier transformation to the output of the modulating part. The 1st data string among data strings includes demodulation information to demodulate a modulation signal obtained by modulating a data string other than the 1st data string. The demodulation information includes the number of signal points corresponding to the modulation signal obtained by modulating a data string other than the 1st data string. The error correction encoding part sets the error correction capability of the error correction coding processing in each of the data strings.
