PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light guide device with an epicycloid shaped section, which is highly efficient and reduces a manufacturing cost without alternately arranging lenses or using any prism like the conventional light guide device, and an illuminator to which the light guide is applied. SOLUTION: In the illuminator constructed with a lamp 3 being a light source, and a light guide part 1 formed by extending from the lamp 3 and having a part of its side face with a transparent cylindrical shape, the light guide part 1 is constructed with an epicycloid shaped section.
