PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-speed breaker which can reduce the time for deciding on breaking, which requires at least 60 seconds with a conventional configuration and hence causes short circuit current and servere damages to the short- circuited part. SOLUTION: This high-speed breaker has a current detection means of a system current, a sampling means which samples the detected current signals at prescribed times and outputs a plurality of time-sequential data, an operation means which operates wavelet transformation with a French Hat function of the output signal currents of the sampling means as a base function, calculation means which calculate the average values of the respective resolutions from 0 to j-1 obtained by the operation means, comparing means which compare the average values of the respective resolutions with average values of the respective resolutions, when current signals, detected by the current detection means, are normal, a comparing means which outputs the state of the current according to the comparison results of the comparing means and a cut-off command output means, which outputs a cut-off command according to the comparison result.
