PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a gradation correction curve with which the image of a desired gradation characteristic can be obtained without generating a tone jump. SOLUTION: About a 1st gradation characteristic curve R1 and a 2nd gradation characteristic partial curve R2, a gradation characteristic curve is prepared by connecting the 1st and 2nd gradation characteristic partial curves by a function which has the same differential coefficient as that of the curve R1 at a connection with the curve R1 and also the same differential coefficient as that of the curve R2 at a connection with the curve R2 and is also converted monotonously between connections on the 1st gradation characteristic partial curve and connections on the 2nd gradation characteristic partial curve, and a gradation correction curve for converting input image data into output image data is prepared on the basis of the prepared gradation characteristic curve. |
