PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor which generates little ozone or nitrogen oxides and consumes low electric power. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor has a structure of at least a photosensitive layer and a surface protective layer successively laminated on a conductive supporting body. Charges are injected into the photoreceptor by applying voltage on an electrifying member disposed in contact with the photoreceptor. The surface protective layer contains fine particles having a diamond like carbon and/or amorphous carbon structure containing hydrogen.
