<p>The unit to condense sliver, at the sliver drawing unit for a spinning machine, has a surface with passage openings (22) for air to be drawn through by suction. The passage openings lie across the sliver movement direction (23) as elongated holes. The sliver condensing unit has a number of elongated hole openings, next to each other in rows, parallel to an axis of the condensing unit. The openings are offset to each other along the line of sliver travel, and they can be pitched at an angle of 10 deg to the sliver travel line. The elongated hole openings can be located in the valleys or peaks of a channel system, or the channels only go through the openings. Round passage openings can be placed at least partially between the elongated holes in the rows. The elongated hole openings are of different lengths (l) and/or width (b) in dimensions with a length of 5-15 mm and a width of 0.5-2.0 mm.</p> |
