PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that dimensions of a feature space increase and a computation quantity increase as the number of features which should be specified to represent features of an image more in detail is increased when the image is retrieved by computing similarities, etc., between retrieval data specified as a feature and all retrieved data and sequencing the retrieved data according to the similarities. SOLUTION: A color determination part 201 determines a color from a retrieval image and a color determination part 202 determines a color from a retrieved image in an image database. Vector conversion parts 203 and 204 convert the colors determined by the color determination parts 201 and 202 into color vectors respectively. A normal orthogonal space generation part 206 generates a color similar space for representing the similarity of a color space by using a color space similar vector based upon a color similar rule. A projection part 207 projects the color vectors generated from the retrieval image and retrieved image on a normal orthogonal space. A likelihood computation part 208 computes likelihoods showing the similarities between the retrieval image and color vectors as to the color vectors corresponding to the retrieved image projected by the projection part 207. A selection part 209 selects a retrieved image which is similar to the retrieval image based on the computed likelihood. |
