PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder that can maximally prevent occurrence of missing of recorded compressed YUV signals by utilizing the principle that a larger idle area causes less frequency of jumping an optical pickup and a magnetic head resulting in increasing the effective recording rate. SOLUTION: When a recording mode changeover switch 34 selects a moving picture recording mode and a shutter button 36 is depressed, an image sensor 12 outputs camera signals for a plurality of image patterns. A signal processing circuit 20 applies signal processing to the camera signals by a plurality of the image patterns to generate the compressed YUV signals, which are given to a disk control circuit 24 via a buffer memory 22. A disk control circuit 24 drives the optical pickup 26 and the magnetic head 28 to record the compressed YUV signals to a magneto-optical disk 30 in the decreasing order from the largest idle areas. |
