IMAGE-PROCESSING UNIT AND ITS METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-processing unit that can reduce a capacity of a memory storing image data, prior to compression. SOLUTION: The image-processing unit includes a memory 2 storing image data, a JPEG compression section 3 that compresses image data, a memory control section 1 that output only luminance data to a JPEG compression section 3, when the luminance data stored in the memory 2 reach data by a prescribed line and outputs the luminance data and color difference data stored in the memory 2 to the JPEG compression section 3, when the succeeding luminance data again reach a prescribed line, and a USB interface section 6 that contains the image data compressed by the JPEG compression section 3 into packet and outputs the packet. Thus, in the case that the color difference data are thinned, the capacity of the memory 2 storing the image data can be reduced.
