PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data output device capable of eliminating the necessity of exchanging a password between a transmitter of confidential data and a confidential receiver. SOLUTION: At the time of receiving confidential data from a host computer 112 or the like, the data output device 100 transmits an electronic mail to be information data to a confidential receiver (confidential computer 114) to be the destination of the confidential data. The confidential receiver returns a password and an output control parameter from the computer 114 to the device 100. The device 100 stores these data in a hard disk 105 so as to correspond to the confidential data. When the confidential receiver inputs a password from an operation display part 107, whether the inputted password coincides with that stored in the hard disk 105 or not is judged, and when both the passwords coincide with each other, the confidential data are printed out from a printer part 106.
