METHOD FOR PROLONGING LIFETIME OF ELECTRIC FURNACE TAP HOLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a decrease in productivity by replacing tap hole bricks when there is a convenience of operating an electric furnace (e.g. when the furnace is periodically repaired) by prolonging the lifetime of the tap hole of the furnace. SOLUTION: When tap hole bricks 3 used in the case of transferring a molten steel of the electric furnace to a ladle are worn so that the hole 2 is enlarged, an iron tube 7 is inserted into the inside surface of the bricks 3 of the enlarged hole 2. Then, a mortal 9 is cast in a gap between the tube 7 and the bricks 3 to set the diameter of the hole 2 to the diameter of the same degree as that before wearing.
