PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retrieval system capable of reducing the time, labor and errors of input by a client at the time of information retrieval and easily accessing a desired information resource. SOLUTION: This retrieval system 1 is provided with a retrieval server 11 connected to the plural clients and plural information providing servers 13 on the internet 15. The retrieval server 11 is provided with a storage means 12 storing the correspondence relation of the URLs of information resources provided by the respective information providing servers 13 and the numbers of a prescribed digit number allocated to the URLs. The retrieval server 11 displays the index of the information resource and the number of the prescribed digit number allocated to the information resource to the access equipment 14 of the client, reads the URL corresponding to the number inputted from the access equipment 14 from the storage means 12 and retrieves the information resource corresponding to the URL.
