PASTE HYDROGEN STORAGE ALLOY ELECTRODE AND NICKEL- HYDROGEN BATTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paste hydrogen storage alloy electrode having good peeling strength and a nickel-hydrogen battery having improved reserving and cycling characteristics by using the electrode as a negative electrode. SOLUTION: An ammonium salt of carboxymethylcellulose and polyN- vinylacetamide are made to coexist in an electrode paste using a hydrogen storage alloy as an active material and the paste is applied to a conductive substrate and dried to form the paste hydrogen storage alloy electrode. A negative electrode using the paste hydrogen storage alloy electrode and a positive electrode formed of a nickel pole are filled in a battery together with a separator laid between these electrodes and an alkaline electrolyte to form the nickel- hydrogen battery.
