A milking installation comprises an elevated horseshoe-shaped platform 1 having an entrance 2 at one end and an exit 3 at the other end, a star-shaped area 18 for operators at ground level, in the central portion of the platform 1, a number of stalls A, B, C, D, E on the platform 1 directly adjacent to the central area 18 and separated from the central area by a star-shaped railing 7, a walkway for the animals on the platform around the stalls, and gates 21, 22 for each of the stalls so that animals may enter any free stall and leave the stall and pass to the exit 3 without disturbing or waiting for any animals being milked. The platform has an outer wall 5 extending vertically upward from the platform to guide animals about the walkway. Each stall is provided with a feeding manger 25 pivotally mounted about a vertical axis 26. |
