PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an efficiently interleaving method for a variable length packet. SOLUTION: In a packet network, an interleaver block size is fixed, and when the interleaving block size is smaller than a packet size, block leaving of a variable length packet sometimes becomes inefficient. The number of elements (i.e., byte and symbol) left behind for the last block sometimes becomes very small with respect to a certain packet length. This method is for calculating an optimum interleaver block size for a preliminarily selected packet length and a preliminarily selected interleaver width. Block sizes are made maximum being made almost the same.
