PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hinge for an opening and closing body having a free stop function of stopping and holding an opening and closing body such as a manuscript pressing board of a copy machine at an arbitrary opening angle which can be also applied for copying a thick manuscript. SOLUTION: By balancing a moment in open direction by an urging force of a compression coil spring 25, a moment in closed direction by the weight of an opening and closing body 2 and a friction force created between sliding surfaces of the first longitudinal long groove 19 of the first hinge slider 16 and the first stopper pin 13, the opening and closing body 2 can be stopped and held at arbitrary opening angle. When the manuscript is thick, the second movable side hinge body 8 is rotated around the second hinge pin 7, the second stopper pin 24 slides toward the upper end portion inside the second longitudinal long groove 22, while the second hinge slider 17 is slightly compressing the compression coil spring 25, it is moved in an arrow 'd' direction in the hinge body 6 at the first moving side, and the opening and closing body 2 is lifted up and becomes parallel to the thick manuscript P thereby crimping with an uniform pressure.
