PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly obtain a track number from a sector number with less memory capacity. SOLUTION: In a method for converting the sector number S approximated by T2=S to the track number T, a table answering an integer (n) to (2n)2 is used, and the value of the track number S is approximated roughly, and further, the sector number S is approximated precisely by using bit operation, shift operation and the table. The track number corresponding to the sector number S approximated in such a manner is made the obtained track number T.
