PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device, a jig for fixing an image pickup element and an image pickup element mounting method which can improve the accuracy of optical axis adjustment of the image pickup element and an image pickup lens, have high workability and can easily mount the image pickup element on the main body frame of the image pickup device without depending on personal technique. SOLUTION: In the case of mounting a CCD mounting substrate 22 on a bracket 13, a jig 30 is inserted into a lens platform 15, fitting members 32a and 32b provided on the pedestal 31 of the jig 30 are also fitted into two hole parts 16a and 16b provided on the surface of the outer circumferential part of the platform 15, the jig 30 is fixed to a front escutcheon 11, and the substrate 22 is fixed to the CCD holding members 33a and 33b of the fixed jig 30.
