PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dispense with a reinforcing member improving the fastening rigidity to a cylinder block and to lower the cost by reducing the number of components. SOLUTION: This structure of flywheel housing 10 comprises a wheel storage part 12 for storing a flywheel, a gear storage part 16 storing a gear train 14 for driving a cam shaft and opened and formed with a working window 18 for attaching/detaching gears 14a, 14b of the gear train 14, and reinforcing ribs 24, 26 formed in the outer circumference of the wheel storage part 12 in the both sides of the work window 18 and extending approximately radial direction of a crankshaft. The total cross section of the respective ribs 24, 26 is set to be, an approximate multiplication value L×t between the length L of the straight line connecting intersections A, B of the inner circumferential face of the working window 18 with a fastening face 22 to the cylinder block, and the mean thickness t of the flywheel housing 10 in the circumference of the work window 18 in a part without formed with the ribs 24, 26.
