PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminous display device which is formed as a luminous display device of a surface packaging type by using an insulating substrate but is formed of a structure to make resins or the like hardly adherable to electrode terminals for soldering to circuit boards and others and a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: A plurality LED of chips 2 are bonded onto wiring patterns 11 of a substrate 1 formed with the wiring patterns 11 in such a manner that a plurality of light emitting parts constituting a part of display images, respectively, such as respective segments of, for example, numerals may be formed. Light guide parts 32 are formed so as to respectively include their plural light emitting elements and a reflection case 3 to shield the light of the respective light emitting parts is put on the substrate 1. The display surface side of the reflection case 3 is provided with a light diffusion sheet 6 so as to cover the front surfaces of the light guide parts 32 and the inside of these light guide parts 32 is formed hollow.
