A headlamp has a light source (14), a reflector (10) by which light sent out from the light source is reflected as a convergent light beam and an imaging screen (18) by which part of the light beam is screened. Between the imaging screen and the lens (26), at least one screening element (40) is arranged which projects partly into the radiation path of the light beam reflected from the reflector and by which a part of the light beam reflected from the reflector is partially screened which would effect an illumination in the close to middle distance in front of the vehicle.
