The functionality of a removable faceplate on an entertainment system, such as a vehicular radio, is enhanced beyond its typical theft-prevention function. In another embodiment, the faceplate contains a "buy" switch that can be used to create a purchase request for an item that is associated with the received broadcast content material, and the memory device is used to store-and-forward this purchase request to a vendor via a base station.
