1,196,284. Railway vehicle walls; refrigerator cars. A. BONNET. 14 June, 1967 [16 June, 1966], No. 27498/67. Heading B7L. [Also in Divisions F3-4 and B4-5] Insulated panels 1, 2 forming a cold room, or refrigerated road or rail vehicle, are secured together by means of liquid polyester impregnated glass fibre fabric 8, the parts being clamped together till polymerization of the polyester occurs. The panels which may be provided with interfitting recesses 4, 5 for mutual reinforcement, may be directly linked together (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown) or linked through an intermediate polyurethane section 7, provided with overlapping wings 9. When the panels are directly linked, additional corner reinforcements (11, 12, Fig. 5) are provided. Adjacent panels in the same plane may be similarly linked through an I-section polyurethane member (22, Fig. 2A, not shown). Each panel is formed from two polyester impregnated glass fibre sheets with insulation between them, and may include wood or plastic reinforcement members 14, held in position by a further layer of polymerized polyester impregnated glass fibre. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) the reinforcement, contained in a deep transverse or longitudinal groove in the panel is formed from successive layers of wood, metal and polyurethane, which may support load bearing hooks or bars (not shown). Alternatively, (Fig. 6, not shown), a resin impregnated glass fibre reinforcement may be incorporated in a shallow groove in the panel. |
