SERVER DETERMINING METHOD AND DEVICE

The nodes of a cluster system are divided into a group of main server candidate nodes capable of operating specific works, a group of sub-server candidate nodes capable of backing specific works up, and a group of noncandidate nodes excluded from the specific works and back-up works. Each of the server belonging to the group of main server candidate nodes, when it starts up, presents its publicity information necessary for judgment in electing a main server to all the other nodes, announces its candidacy, compares its publicity information with the publicity information of the other candidate nodes, stops its presentation of its publicity information when the server judges that the server is not adequate, withdraws its candidacy, and allows the only main server approved by the other server to be present. The servers belonging to the group of sub-server candidate nodes allow the only sub-server similarly approved by the other servers to be present.
