<p>In one aspect, an injector (100) injects and withdraws coiled tubing (110) and comprises a linear driving section (101) of gripping blocks (106) driven on an endless chain conveyor (102). The coiled tubing is forced into frictional engagement with the blocks by a corresponding linear array of rollers (112). The linear driving section of configurable length provides a gentle action on the coiled tubing and superior injection and pulling capacities. In another aspect, in combination with strong draw works (313), a collaspible mast (304) and rotary table (311) of a conventional rig enables making up both sectional tubing (310) for assembling BHA's, drilling surface hole and making up to non-rotating coiled tubing (110) from the coiled tubing injector. The mast has one open side (374) for receiving conventional sectional tubing and a second open side (375) for receiving the injector and handling coiled tubing.</p> |
