A touch panel having an excellent safety (low scratchability) ensured even without being subjected to chamfering even though the touch input surface is a glass base surface. A touch panel comprising a glass base (1a) having cut peripheral sides and a touch input surface (7). The edges (5) of the cut peripheral sides (4a) are smooth. The periphery of the glass base is cut by a water jet or a laser beam. The glass base can be made of laminated glass.
