A leak structure in a reference electrode comprises two or more platinum or platinum alloy wires twisted together or three or more platinum or platinum alloy wires arranged in parallel, and fused together at contact surfaces. The structure (2) is fused, welded, pressed or cemented into the outer wall (1) of the electrode which is glass or a synthetic plastics material. The reference electrode may be combined with a PH sensitive glass electrode (10), as in Fig. 2 (not shown). |
