The length of the oscillating air column is regulated during playing by altering the length of the recorder pipe. The maximum pipe length from the mouthpiece to the end opening can be shortened by the length of the slide system segment. A slide arrangement consists of the wooden round rings (1,2) and the slide system segment with differing diameter.
