A light transmitter/receiver (32) is shielded against high-power radio-frequency radiation by a window (36) having a first light-transparent plate (42), a second light-transparent plate (44) disposed substantially parallel to and spaced apart from the first light-transparent plate (42), a frame receiving the first light-transparent plate (42) and the second light-transparent plate (44) therein, and a liquid (48) filling the space between the first light-transparent plate (42) and the second light-transparent plate (44). The liquid (48) includes water. The window (36) is positioned between the light transmitter/receiver (32) and a source of radio-frequency radiation (34) with the first light-transparent plate (42) facing the source (34). The radio-frequency radiation has a frequency exceeding about 0.9 GHz and a power exceeding about 1 milliwatt per square centimeter measured at the first light-transparent plate (42).
