The invention concerns resistance welding tongs comprising two electrode-bearing arms one of which is mobile relative to the other, the relative movement of the arms being produced by an electric jack. The invention is characterised in that the electric jack comprises an induction linear electric motor with conductive armature and planar inductor. The invention is applicable to welding tongs.
