<p>An enzyme which catalyzes an unknown reaction step in the non-mevalonate pathway, in particular, the reaction step with the use of 2-phospho-4-(cytidine-5'-diphospho)-2-C-methyl-D-erythritol (CDP-ME2P) as the substrate. Namely, an enzyme protein having a 2-C-methyl-D-erythritol 2,4-cyclodiphosphate synthase activity and showing the following physicochemical properties is provided. (I) Action: in the presence of Mg2+, forming 2-C-methyl-D-erythritol 2,4-cyclodiphosphate (MECDP) and cytidine 5'-monophosphate (CMP) from CDP-ME2P serving as the substrate. (1) Molecular weight: about 22 kDa when measured by SDS-PAGE.</p> |
