The invention concerns a hydraulic actuating cylinder for a motor vehicle, comprising at least two pistons (5, 6) that can move relative to a housing hole (3, 4), said pistons defining jointly with a housing (2) at least two pressure chambers (7, 8). The invention is characterized in that the actuating cylinder has two pre-mounted subassemblies that can be fixed to one another. Each of the subassemblies has a housing part (9, 17) and at least one sealing means (10, 19) mounted in the housing part (9, 17). Said sealing means with at least one sealing lip (12, 18) is elastically placed on the assigned piston (5, 6) with a given force such that the piston (5, 6) can be displaced relative to the sealing means (10, 19) before the subassemblies are joined and fixed but that cannot slide out unintentionally from the latter and the assigned housing part (9, 17).
