SMALL MOLECULES HAVING GLP-2 LIKE ACTIVITY

Described herein are non-peptide agonists of the GLP-2 receptor. In accordance with one aspect of the present invention there is provided, for use to treat subjects for which treatment with a GLP-2 peptide is indicated, a compound characterized as having a molecular weight of from about 100 Daltons to less than about 1,000 Daltons and which possesses GLP-2 receptor agonist activity. More particularly GLP-2 agonist used are small molecules containing hydrozine and aromatic group and the conditions to be treated are gastrointestinal disorders.
